The interaction between animals and humans is an everlasting phenomenon. With the advancement in the field of science and technology, this interaction has become more recurrent. To observe the behavior of different animal species and to aid the advancement of science, this interaction takes place as a result of such an interaction between animals and humans has got mixed results. In some instances, it yields a positive outcome while in some negative consequences. However, the weight always remains more on the negative side which is that the human interactions with the animal world produce a more negative result rather than a positive one. The same is the case with dugongs as well who also are slowly coming in with the interaction of humans and thereby making a negative impact upon the ecological environment.
A Brief About Dugongs
Dugongs are marine animals who have a medium built. At present, the dugongs are the only representatives of the dugong animal family. The dugong species had become extinct in the 18th century and found dugongs are founds along with the Indo-West Pacific territories and are herbivores by nature. The dugongs primarily are dependent on the seagrass that provides them with nutrients to stay alive. Majority of the activities of dugongs restricts to the coastal belts. The dugongs do not have any hind limbs or dorsal fins. They possess a dolphin-like tail and a single tooth and skull structure. The majority of dugong concentration exists in the shallow, comprehensive, and protected areas. They tend to stay deep into water bodies to protect themselves from any human interaction.
Dugongs Animals And Human Interaction
Just like other animals, the dugongs to have come in contact with human interactions. Humans tend to intervene in the animal kingdom to gain more information regarding them. This enables the advancement of the field of science. In some instances, human interactions with the animals have proved to be fruitful. This interaction results in saving many animals from extinction and killed by poachers. However, human interactions with animals always do not yield a positive outcome. On the majority of cases, animal and human interactions result in disastrous effects for the animal kingdom. This has lead to an extinct of many species because of the careless and selfish human activities.
Reasons For The Interaction Between Dugongs Animals And Humans
Humans tend to interact with these animals to acquire more information regarding the species which further helps them to add to the field of science that brings new discoveries. With the help of science, scientists try to improve the living conditions of these animals, thereby saving them from extinction while on the other hand, the majority of human interaction with these animals takes place to fulfill the greed of man. Man is hungry for money and fame, and they use the poor animals to achieve this. Since thousands of years, humans hunt these animals down for their oil and meat. The oil extracted from the flesh of dugongs is quite nutritious and beneficial in much respects while the meat and fat of these animals are the most valuable foods for the Torres Strait Islanders and the Australian Aborigins.
